Portugal has three national divisions that provide access to the Portuguese Cup. The first two leagues are operated by ( PPFL )the Portuguese Professional Football League, and they also guarantee participation in the Portuguese League Cup. Lastly, the third division is divided into eight leagues and is the only division operated by the Portuguese Football Federation. The federation announced the creation of the Terceira Liga (Third League) starting in 2021–22.
Portuguese Second Division) was a football league situated at the third level of the Portuguese football league system. The division had previously been the second level of the Portuguese pyramid but, with the creation of the Segunda Liga in 1990–91, it became the third level.
Portugal Premier league is called Primeira Liga, The main domestic football competition is the Primeira Liga. The dominant teams are S.L. Benfica, FC Porto, and Sporting CP.
FC Porto won their 29th Portuguese league title with two games to spare, beating Sporting Lisbon to clinch the crown over Benfica.
Portugees District leagues are operated by 22 District Associations: 18 from each district, plus 1 from Madeira Islands, and 3 from Azores Islands (west, centre, and east islands groups). The winner of each district league is promoted to the third national tier, the Campeonato de Portugal. Moreover, all district leagues provide access to their correspondent district cup, and the winner of the district cup, along with the second-placed team in the district league, is allowed to participate in the next season’s Portuguese Cup. The bottom tier of each association is open to any new club or reserve team based on that district.

With two titles, Benfica is the second most decorated Portuguese team in UEFA competitions, and hold the Portuguese record for most appearances in finals of UEFA competitions, with ten appearances.
