The Egyptian Soccer Premier League is a professional association football league in Egypt consisting of the top 18 clubs in Egypt. The league comprises 18 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Egyptian Second Division. Seasons mostly run from August to May. Unlike most other leagues, all games are played all over the week. All of the Egyptian Premier League clubs qualify for the Egypt Cup. The winner of the Egyptian Premier League qualifies for the Egyptian Super Cup.
The Egyptian League started in 1948 and till now more than seventy clubs have participated in the Egyptian Premier League. the most famous league clubs are Al Ahly- Zamalek – Pyramids – Enppi – Ismaily – Maqqasa – Al Masry Port said – Smouha and others. Al Ahly has won 41 times and only clubs Ghazl El-Mahalla, Ismaily, Al Mokawloon Al Arab, Olympic Club, Tersana and Zamalek have won the league
The Egyptian Second Division is an Egyptian professional football league representing the second division of Egyptian football, which was established in 1977 now the league consists of 3 groups that cover all Egypt areas (A-B-C) each group is 12-14 clubs. at the end of the season competition, 3 clubs only upgrade to the premier league
